Muay Thai Training Gym Bristol

MUAY THAI

If you know your roundhouse kick from your flying knee, you’ll probably also know that Muay Thai is one of the most physically demanding sports out there. It requires more flexibility, coordination and fitness than perhaps any other sport.

Don’t let this put you off though - the harder the sport, the greater the rewards. We’ll train you step by step, getting you fitter, stronger and more confident with each class.

KICKBOXING

Modern kickboxing is a mixture of western boxing and traditional karate, where a fighter uses a combination of kicks and punches against their opponent for a number of 2 or 3-minute rounds.

Kickboxing is a broad term that includes many different styles and rulesets, such as American Kickboxing, Freestyle (or “Low Kick”) Kickboxing, Muay Thai, K-1, and many more. These different types each have their own rules, techniques and history.

K1 DUTCH-STYLE KICKBOXING

K1, or Dutch-Style Kickboxing is a fusion of western boxing techniques, Japanese Karate and Muay Thai that focuses mainly on heavy punches and low kicks..

It has been around since the late 1970s and has been growing in popularity since then due to its combination of familiar boxing strategy and asian combat sport techniques. It has a different rule set to Muay Thai; elbow strikes usually aren’t allowed in K1 and blows are scored differently.
